Georgia
In April and June 2010 I travelled to Georgia to shoot an assignment for HEKS/EPER, a Swiss NGO. After the first trip in April my plane to Zürich got cancelled because of the vulcano eruption in Iceland and I was stuck in Tbilisi for several days. At the end of May
I returned to Georgia to complete the assignment. This is a selection of single images which
I took during those two visits.

The Novice Monks of Dagpo Shedrub Ling
When our plane from Delhi to Kullu was cancelled, me and my travel compagnions met a group of tibetan monks who were on their way to their monastery in the Kullu Valley in India. We were invited to the Dagpo Shedrub Ling monastery, also called „Kias monastery“.
Most of the Tibetan monks practice their religion in exile, and the Dhapo Shedrub Ling monastery in the Indian district of Himalchal Pradesh was built and named after a homonymous monastery in Tibet. Some of the monks told me the Chinese government calls them «The Dalai Lama’s Army», and only allows a small number of them to remain in Tibet. Most of the young novice monk risked their life while crossing the border to India.
Myanmar Monks
In September 2007 thousands of monks marched through the streets of Myanmar leading the biggest antigovernment protests in two decades. At first, the country's military leaders held back, letting the protests continue. But after a week of increasingly large protests, hundreds of troops and riot police moved in to quell the uprise. There have since been reports of thousands of arrests. Monks are said to have been rounded up and held in make-shift detention compounds to be transported to prison camps in the north. When I travelled to Myanmar in January 2008, only a few monks were left in the monasterys where once hundreds used to live.
